Three Companions for Rst Order Data Mining
نویسندگان
چکیده
Three companion systems, Claudien, ICL and Tilde, are presented. They use a common representation for examples and hypotheses: each example is represented by a relational database. This contrasts with the classical inductive logic programming systems such as Progol and Foil. It is argued that this representation is closer to attribute value learning and hence more natural. Furthermore, the three systems can be considered rst order upgrades of typical data mining systems, which induce association rules, classiication rules or decision trees respectively.

متن کاملForgetting and Generalisation in Memory Modelling for Robot Companions: a Data Mining Approach
The idea of a robot as a long-term companion has not been widely accepted and sometimes not even considered or imagined. Hence, several issues should be addressed in order to facilitate this long-term human-robot interaction. This work focuses on the memory modelling for artificial companions and its forgetting processes by proposing a novel approach based on hierarchical classification data mi...
متن کاملParallel Inductive Logic in Data Mining
Data-mining is the process of automatic extraction of novel, useful and understandable patterns from very large databases. High-performance, scalable, and parallel computing algorithms are crucial in data mining as datasets grow inexorably in size and complexity. Inductive logic is a research area in the intersection of machine learning and logic programming, which has been recently applied to ...
متن کاملBiological Data Mining Using Bayesian Neural Networks: A Case Study
Biological data mining is the activity of nding signiicant information in biomolecular data. The signiicant information may refer to motifs, clusters, genes, and protein signatures. This paper presents an example of biological data mining: the recognition of promoters in DNA. We propose a two-level ensemble of classiiers to recognize E. Coli promoter sequences. The rst-level classiiers include ...
متن کاملTransformation-Based Learning meets Frequent Pattern Discovery
Transformation-based learning (TBL) and frequent pattern discovery (FPD) are two popular research paradigms, one from the domain of empirical natural language processing , the second from the eld of data mining. This paper describes how Eric Brill's original TBL algorithm can be improved via incorporation of FPD techniques. The algorithm B-Warmr is presented that upgrades TBL to rst-order logic...
